Cooley Horsfall Architecture is a design-lead architectural studio based in Frome, Somerset. We specialise in residential projects, ranging from small private extensions to larger housing developments.
Our ethos is to produce beautifully formed designs that match the clients brief and vision as closely as possible, whilst adhering to the inevitable site and Planning constraints and respecting the local physical context.
Every project - no matter what, where or how big it is - should be created with strong design intent and not by simply ticking boxes in order to just ‘get it built’. Our designs are driven by an understanding of how spaces work and how they will be used. We hold a keen interest in using the most appropriate construction methods and design tools, whilst always being sympathetic to the existing context.
There will always be a balance between the ultimate requirements of the client and what is feasible, with regards to the budget, applicable regulations and gravity. We see one of our primary roles as Architects as getting this balance as close as possible to being perfect.
We have a partner office in Barbican, London which is primarily involved in any larger projects. Whilst the two offices run independently from each other, we both benefit from a shared workforce and increased range of experience and often collaborate on projects which we feel require specific expertise.
